Open Door Invitation

The Open Door Invitation is a structured mediation process to help couples facing marital strife, separation, or divorce re-engage in constructive negotiation and achieve wins for all. It’s an effective platform for one spouse to invite the other into a neutral, guided conversation led by an expert mediator.

Open Doors

Open Door Invitation can help:

  save marriage

  create more effective co-parenting

  reduce tension and conflict

  promote understanding

➤  supports children's well-being

How It Works

1. First Spouse Meeting

An initial session with the inviting spouse to discuss the situation and establish goals, such as restoring the marriage or creating a more effective, less stressful co-parenting plan.

2. Invitation to Participate

The other spouse is invited to join a Zoom meeting with the mediator to share their goals.

3. Sharing Needs & Grievances

Each spouse expresses their needs, concerns, and goals for themselves and/or their children in separate, individual conversations.

4. Mutual Understanding

The process clarifies misunderstandings and allows both spouses to be heard in a respectful, non-confrontational environment.

5. Building Agreements

The mediator facilitates the development of beneficial agreements to reduce tension and enhance cooperation.

6. Promoting Cooperation

The neutral setting helps dispel negative emotions, encourages goodwill, and fosters cooperation.

Some of the benefits include:

“I couldn’t believe my spouse agreed to meet with Carolyn after refusing any therapy. His first meeting with her started our path to reconciliation.”
